Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get a Tipton House Doodle?

I am so glad to hear you are interested in one of our puppies! Please submit a puppy application and we will get back to you ASAP.

When is full payment due?

Full payment is due when you pick up your puppy. (There is a processing fee for credit/debit card transactions, but cash and check are accepted with no fee.)

Does my puppy come with a health guarantee?

Yes, all of our puppies come with a 2-year hip and genetic guarantee. Our genetic guarantee guarantees that your puppy will not be affected by any of the breed-related genetic diseases.

When can I pick up my puppy?

All of our puppies have been weaned from their mother and are eating solid puppy food. They are ready when you are.

Do you health test your dogs?

Yes. All of our puppies visited the vet within 48 hours of being born, at 2 weeks of age they were tested via Embark to confirm breed and screen for hereditary disease risk. This DNA test also provides great insight into predicted adult size, weight, and visual features (the full report is available upon request). This litter was also routinely dewormed at 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 7 weeks, and 10 weeks in an effort to take care of parasites at every stage of their life cycle.

Are your doodles hypoallergenic/nonshedding?

No dog is 100% hypoallergenic. Allergies can also be triggered by saliva and dander, not just hair. Our doodles carry the gene for “furnishings” which means they are likely to have the features of eyebrows and beards. Furnished dogs do tend to shed less than unfurnished ones.

What kind of coat maintenance can I expect?

Most dogs who are 50% poodle will have curly hair that will require daily brushing to prevent mats. Because our pups have been bred to be only 25% poodle they are likely to have wavy coats, often described as a soft, “shaggy” or fleece-type coat. Wavy coats are generally easier to groom than curly coats and are less prone to severe tangling. You can plan to brush 2–3 times per week to prevent mats, with professional grooming every 8–10 weeks to keep the coat healthy and comfortable.

What if I can no longer keep my puppy?

We understand life happens and plans change, but we want the puppies we have raised to be in loving homes for the duration of their lives. Due to this, we request that you reach out and let us know. We will gladly help you place the dog in a new home or take him/her back no questions asked.

When do I need to take my puppy to the vet after I get him/her?

All of our puppies come with a health guarantee which requires you to have your new puppy checked by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of getting your puppy. You will need to send me a copy of the exam visit and any doctor's notes for the health guarantee to be valid.

What about vaccinations?

Our puppies will go home up-to-date on shots and vet care for their age. At 7 weeks, they received their first round of vaccinations, and at 10 weeks, they received their second round. They are due for a third round when they are 13 weeks old.

What does my puppy come home with?

Spay/neuter contract, 2-year health guarantee, a blanket that smells like their mama, a bag of the food your puppy has been eating, the first two rounds of shots and records, deworming schedule started.
